West Chiltington Dramatic Society (WCDS)
Meeting times
We meet for rehearsals every Monday and Thursday evening in the lead-up to our productions and sometimes to our Members’ Evenings. Times are usually 19:15 – 22:15 or 19:30 – 22:00 in the Main Hall or Windmill Room.
About Us
WCDS is an active, friendly and inclusive group focused on furthering the appreciation and encouragement of dramatic art within the local community by:
(i) putting on public productions of plays performed by local amateurs
(ii) arranging play readings and other dramatic activities, encouraging the participation of patrons and members of the Society in these events.
We were established in West Chiltington over 75 years ago, moving to the then new Village Hall in 1957. We welcome new members of all ages and levels of experience. Whilst we are always looking for members who wish to act, there are also numerous roles behind the scenes, e.g. directing, lighting, sound, stage management, make-up, costumes, Front of House… the list goes on!
Activities Include
- Two major productions presented to the public each year: Thursday to Saturday in the second half of May and November. In the two to three months before each production, we rehearse on Monday and Thursday evenings.
- Social events including Members’ Evenings, at which we provide entertainment and refreshments in the Village Hall, and Play Readings for Fun.
Fees
Fees for a whole year are:
- £5 for a junior member (under 18)
- £5 for a student member (over 18 in full-time education)
- £10 for an adult member
- £15 for a Patron
